Ms. Smith started out as a runner in 1991 for a three-attorney law firm, then on to a receptionist and then legal secretary and office manager of a law office. She took a keen interest in court reporting during that time and decided to become a reporter.
She brings almost two decades of experience in the legal field with her to Nashville.
Growing and finally introducing Smith Reporting to Nashville's legal community has
been a long-awaited milestone she has been waiting to reach. Through
hard work
and a constant vision and a goal to ultimately service a larger legal market, Smith
Reporting has evolved and is growing.
She is eager to show you who Smith Reporting is and demonstrate what she can do
for you. She has experienced it all, from the initial phone call from the client, to
running to the court clerk and filing the complaint, all the way to the jury verdict
being read by the foreperson, to the appeal transcript (produced by her) being filed
with the Court of Appeals. Ms. Smith knows exactly how important the discovery
process is and the ultimate proceedings before The Court are.
She has completed over 400,000 transcript pages and approximately 5000
assignments since 1998 and provided professional, dependable and accurate
service to over a thousand of the finest paralegals, attorneys and legal
support in Tennessee. One of those assignments was a three-week trial that
included 18 attorneys and a 2400 page transcript that she completed in four weeks
that amounted to 21 volumes of transcript proceedings.
It is often said "We cannot start without the court reporter" and Michelle has always
thought that it should be "Together, We Make The Record" because without
you, there would not be a record.
Ms. Smith brings her small-town touch and good old-fashioned southern hospitality
to a larger market and is eager to assist you in your court reporting needs. It is her
sincere desire to continually move forward with ever-changing technology on the
court reporting market, continually grow and serve the people with the same care
and respect that they have served her with for these past two decades.
